  Saosin:Anberlin:Acceptance:Codeseven->June 13th, 2005 @ Skrappy's-> Tucson, AZ

I was amped for this show. Acceptance what can I say. This was the third time I've seen them in about 2 months. So anyways the show started with Codeseven then ended with Saosin.

Codeseven: I was really wondering what these guys were like live. After seeing their music video I was excited for somewhat of an high-energy show. What I got was what seemed like high-energy but there were some definite flaws within the show. The bass was really high which polluted the guitars and the vocals. Another problem that I noticed was that since the falling bands back lined the stage there was little room for performance. After 5 songs they concluded their set. Very cool band to see live. The singer is just a little creepy. He looked like a beastie boy.

Acceptance: At this show the crowd had grown with great response. As selfish as I am I wasn't too happy because the previous time I saw them at Skrappy's there were only 23 or so kids. Well this time they got the keys working as well as the computer induced sound which was grand. They killed their set with playing "So Contagious," "Different," and "Permanent." I don't know what it is about this band but it was awesome all around. Love those guys.

Anberlin: What can I say after hearing them on their debut T&N release "Blueprints For The Black Market," and hearing a few songs from their latest "Don't Take Friendship Personal," I thought it was a completely different band. I don't know if it is just me but I was hugely impressed with the stage presence and everything else. They made me wish I knew the songs so I could sing along. Next time they come by I will be prepared. For sure!

Saosin: So Cove vs. Anthony. That was the battle that was going in my head. I was a huge Saosin when "Translating The Name," came out and enjoyed every minute of that CD. I fell in love with Anthony Green's unique vocal style. I was sad to hear that he decided to part ways. So Saosin got a guy named Cove to replace him. I was definitely impressed with what he did, but it makes me worry about what he has to offer to the band. I mean he replicated that style of singing perfectly and had awesome stage presence. It could be me looking to close into it but I thought he had some of Anthony's mannersism's which is cool. Honestly I am still debating. Bottom line they rocked Skrappy's and looking forward to their debut.

MXPX, MXPX, what can I say up these road warriors? The nonstop bass, guitar, drums, brings you back to that time when your first starting liking what I would like to call pop-punk. Yes I am the one who coined that term as well as bling-bling. Anyway these pop-punk pioneers are back once again with a brand new tracks and a frash new sound. With some synthesizers as well as some other electronic sounds that are not to electronic but are there. Well actully not really. From "Slowing Going The
Way of the Buffalo" to "Before Everything & After" it seems the band has stayed the exact same band. No new sounds, no experimentation, no differating vocals, nothing new. The overall evalulation of there newest attempt is that it doesn't have that same spark as preveiouslly did. The best advice I can give you on this is that if your into that late 90's pop
punk movement then this should take you there. I would recommend tracks 2, 3, 4, and 5

Sounds Like: Ealy Blink, Fenix TX

Imagine if you lived in the late 60's early 70's and one band new somewhat of what dirty rock n roll meets punk. Welcome to Diamond Nights, our specials todays are awesome 70's riffs, metal falsetto vocals, with Dire Straits thrown in the mix. These is an awesome showcase of the potential that this band has. Well rounded album with synth and of course you can't forget about Mr. Guitar Solo!!!. Great if you have an older show or a rock pop show. My favorite tracks on this CD would have to be The Girl Is Attractive by far the best track on the E.P.

Eric Elbogen is in a world filled with robots, ghosts, despair, the future, and the present. The overall feel towards this records compared to his previous is that somehow his writing style has matured and is somewhat becoming more comfortable with it. With prominant bassness to loud guitars riffs, and the occasional electronic assistance. This lyrics content is somewhat farcical. On most of the album such things as toads, vampires, and ghost give us a peek into what Eric imagination is like. This album is quite simple and is genius in it's own way. The songs flow from guitar and bass to electronic which is quite curious but I feel as if he pulls it off. Absolutely a great follow up to "Nubers and Mumbles." If you are looking for a catchy rocking song play 7,or 9, those two resemble what I like to feel is the "Say Hi To Your Mom," sound.

Sounds like: On the tidbit review it says Grandaddy, which I can hear a little, Early Death Cab, umm most likely not, and Luna, which I can also hear a little. Great CD for an indie pop show.

  Alright guys, I just did two reviews and start expecting a lot more. I'm experimenting with the album art so far it's not working that well so I honestly don't really have the knowledge to manipulate it. So please feel free to email if you have any suggestions. Right now I am using Flckr. Anyways.
  The Get-Up Kids The Get-Up Kids: Live! @ The Granad Theater-Vagrant
*****

Well kids, it's been ten years since the first ever 7in, came into play. Look at them know. Matthew Pryor in the New Amsterdams, James Dewees on keyboard for New Found Glory and star of Reggie and the Full Effect, Ryan Pope on drums for Koufax, Jim Suptic in The Blackpool Lights, and Rob Pope playing in White Whale. Who are this kids? These are the Get- Up Kids. Hailing out of Kansas City these emo trailblazers set the standard alongside the Promise Ring and as well as Braid. Look at them now. This cd is a compilation of all there greatest songs recorded live. Yes they have the songs that you made out with in the back of your parents car, yes they have the song when you got dumped, yes they have that song that inspired you to cut your hair and wear thick rimmed glasses. Ultimately this is the final chapter of the get-up kids. Do us all a favor and play this like you wear footware. "Say goodnight, means goodbye!" After releasing a handful of CD's it's our time to part ways with them. As far as recommendations go play any song on this cd. You will not be dissappointed. Remember they paved the way in some sense. Ok, ok this is one time when we can go back to our emo roots and appreciate these guys. Awesome live cd. It's like your there, singing your heart out.

Imagine a bunch of artists randomly collaborating over the years bringing numerous amounts of noise, sound, and thier own personal touch. It has an all star cast of Chino Moreno (Deftones) on guitar and vocals, Zach Hill (Hella) on drums.TeamSleephas somewhat be around even before the Deftones. Over the years it began as 4-tack tape trade with adding different elements as the years passed. After recording songs late in the 90's then somewhat taking a break from it these songs began to surface and somewhat appear on their debut. Team Sleep resembles a journey on the way to sleep. Very ambiant and mood setting. A vessal if you will. From start to finish the amazing peregrination that you experience captivates the listening experience.The lyrics however are philosophical yet random. Something that will ethier make your scratch your head or lift an eyebrow. The overall sound of the record mixes live drums with loops, scratching, acoustic, electric, electronic, bassy, and overshadowing vocals. Very excellent record. Deserves air like you and me. Sounds like: Think God Speed, meets a modern, simplier twist with some
of the epicness of mogwai, and some of Chino Moreno signature sound.
